This year's farmwalk will be hosted by Walnuts Australia (formerly Webster Walnuts).
Walnuts Australia owns or manages 650 hectares of walnut orchards in Tasmania and 1,350 hectares in the Riverina, N.S.W. In total, over 600,000 trees. These orchards are a combination of joint venture, investor funded, private ownership and company owned orchards. When mature they will produce about 10,000 tonnes of in-shell walnuts.
Walnuts Australia has adopted the latest growing techniques and varieties from California and France, the recognised world leaders in walnut production.
The weekend will be centred around the town of Griffith. We will gather to meet and greet on the Friday night, and then tour by bus to the orchards in Leeton and Tabbita and view the latest technologies in the packing and processing facilities of Walnuts Australia.
Saturday night will be a delightful dinner with a thought provoking guest speaker.
Sunday will start with a meeting to discuss the voluntary levy, followed by our nineteenth Annual General Meeting in the morning finishing with lunch before heading home.
